A day dedicated to biotech startups pitching to investors. What’s not to like?

BioPharm America™ 2015 life science partnering event has launched Biotech Startup Day especially for you to expand your connections and get on the radar of the global life science community to make the connections that matter.

The day-long program starts with three roundtable discussions in the morning featuring experts in the startup space. These roundtables are set up to provide startup companies with a frank and open discussion about innovative financing models and how to gain access to funding. The alternative partners roundtable is moderated by Angus McQuilken, VP, Marketing and Communications, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, with panelists Christopher de Souza, Director, Broadview Ventures, and Gary M. Sclar, Associate Director, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The pharma roundtable includes panelists Frank Borriello,  VP, Head of Search and Evaluation, Global Business Development, Baxalta; Paola Casarosa, Corporate VP, Business Development and Licensing/Prescription Medicines, Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH; Tomas Landh,  Innovation Sourcing VP, Senior Principal Scientist, Novo Nordisk; and Melinda Richter, Head, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS.

The investor panel is moderated by Steve Dickman,  CEO, CBT Advisors who is joined by panelists Marian Nakada, VP, Venture Investments, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, Boston; Isai Peimer, Managing Director, MedImmune Ventures; and Geeta Vemuri, Managing Partner, Baxalta Ventures.

The afternoon is highlighted by pitches by startup companies to an audience of investors, pharma executives and peers. The panel is moderated by Doug MacDougall, President of MacDougall Biomedical Communications. Pitch judges represent the larger investor audience, and include Jeffrey Arnold, Member,Mass Med Angels and Boston Harbor Angels; Thomas Luby, Senior Director, New Ventures, Johnson and Johnson Innovation, Boston; Ivana Magovcevic-Liebisch, Senior VP and Head of Global Business Development, Teva Pharmaceuticals; Jason Rhodes, Partner, Atlas Venture; and S. Edward Torres, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Lilly Ventures.

Startups will also have an opportunity to pitch their company to potential partners in the afternoon. Applications for consideration to present are still being accepted by the selection committee until August 17, 2015.
