PHILADELPHIA, USA - JUNE 11, 2013: Students walk past Drexel University building in Philadelphia. The university exists since 1891 and had 25,500 students in 2012.

We are proud to have sponsored the Circus before the Circus networking reception at the Four Seasons Hotel on January 10 during healthcare’s busiest week in San Francisco. Biotech Showcase™ 2016 investor and networking conference—the event where innovation meets money—broke records this year with est. 2,500 executive-level delegates in attendance.

We would like to congratulate Circus before the Circus Golden Ticket winner Heather Rose, PhD, JD, of Drexel University, Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC), who was randomly selected to win a new Apple watch.

Dr. Rose joined the OTC as the Licensing Manager in February 2012, and is responsible for commercializing inventions in the Life Science disciplines. In addition to a JD with a concentration in intellectual property law obtained at the Kline School of Law, Dr. Rose also holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. At Penn Heather performed and presented research about how HIV and other retroviruses choose genomic locations for insertion of the viral DNA into the host chromosome. While in law school Heather interned at the Corporate Intellectual Property Department of GlaxoSmithKline for 6 months. Heather is a member of the PA, NJ and Patent Bars.

The participation of academia in EBD Group life science partnering events is a key component, as many early stage investors want and need entry points to early innovation. Drexel’s OTC brokers these kinds of relationships in serving as a bridge between Drexel’s faculty, staff and students and the private sector, as well as managing the intellectual property that is created at the University.

Connect with Dr. Rose on partnering360®. And look for more opportunities for potential investors, pharma and development partners, as well as collaboration opportunities with early stage projects, innovative startups, established biotechs and midsize pharma companies at BIO-Europe Spring® 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden April 4–6.
