Qualcomm Life brings players in the healthcare ecosystem toward digital transformation

October 5, 2016 Christoph Graener

Disruption to the healthcare ecosystem means disruption to a USD 4 trillion industry. This is no small feat. Luckily, companies like Qualcomm are up to the task. During BioPharm America™ 2016, Nicole Fisher interviewed Dr. James Mault of Qualcomm’s health division, Qualcomm Life, to find out what the company had been up to as they face a new world of “CoOp-etition.” This means that pharma, providers, payers and retailers are working together, while simultaneously figuring out who will play what role and who will pay for what service. In true Qualcomm style, their presentations wowed the crowds with digital diagnostics, monitoring devices and treatments that show how connectivity can both reduce costs and improve care. Entrepreneurship was on full display as Dr. Mault spoke about the technologies that will be truly required to transform out health system from one of fee-for-service to one focused on value-based care.
